NetApp SnapManager for Exchange

SnapManager for Exchange hooks directly into the Exchange API for backup and recovery, integrating the backup and recovery process with the advanced filer snapshots.

A snapshot will be taken periodically, probably several times a day. This snapshot can be checked automatically, or manually to confirm it is a valid Exchange backup though automatic integration with ESEUTIL.

Typically the nightly backup is checked automatically, and the daily ones if they are required. Since the backup is actually disk based the consistency of the backup is all but guaranteed, and the ESEUTIL check is to allow Exchange itself to validate it.

A backup can be used to recovery the entire Exchange database, and you can choose whether to automatically redo logs, or not. This recovery is significantly faster than any competitive alternative.

These snapshot backups can also be interrogated at a granular level, enabling mailbox, folder, and even individual mail recovery to be achieved via a simple drag and drop split page interface.

Single Mail Box recovery enables drag and drove recovery from on-line snapshots right down to individual mail level.
